It is 5:30 a.m. here in Hefei. I am up. Can't sleep. I have been lucky that I have not suffered any jet lag. Been fortunate that I actually like the super-firm mattresses here-we've been pretty lucky to get restful sleep since we have arrived. The reason I cannot sleep is that we leave in less than 4 hours to go to meet Zoey!
Wondering where she is right now (we have not received any updates since December-I have no idea what she knows, where she is, how she is). Wondering how their trip to Hefei will be for her (2+ hours away). Jane told us that they will give us a plastic bag when we leave the meeting room to travel back to the hotel-only about 20 minutes, but motion sickness is normal since she likely hasn't traveled too far from the orphanage/foster home.
I wonder how her goodbyes went-or are going to go-from the only family she's known for 3+ years. I know the orphanage director is going to bring her to me-not sure if anyone else will accompany her. It is unlikely that the foster mom will be here-so the goodbyes have probably already been done.
I keep wondering how it will go when she meets us-how upset she'll be, how we will react, how the transition will be over the next couple days. I am up trying to get everything ready to bring-cameras, videos, snacks, backpack with toys/snacks for her, paperwork, etc...
I did find out that we may be able to travel to the orphanage later on in the week. Although she hasn't lived there for over 3 years, she attended preschool there and probably went there regularly for other kinds of care and appointments. I hope that works out-it is a decent drive, but I can't imagine being out here and not going. I want to be able to provide her with as much information about her past as we can. I would also like to see her finding spot. We will wait to see how Zoey does and decide in a day or 2.
On another note-since I am up in the wee hours of the morning here in China, Bryan and I have been emailing. He's at LegoFest in Cincinnati right now with Sam and Megs, and here is the mural he made:
Next time I post, we'll be a family of SIX!!!
